The proposed development will create the opportunity to look at local traffic issues within the park; from providing an increased number of passing points, improved visibility and minor improvements in the park.
Any scheme proposals will be designed to ensure that traffic speeds are kept down in accordance with the park’s preferred 15mph speed limit. Any new layouts will be designed to give pedestrians improved access, but still taking into account requirements for service vehicles.
Ample parking will be provided for the new homes. A transportation statement will be submitted as part of the application and any impact on the local road network will be agreed with the Highway Authority.
Consultation is taking place with the local bus company to see whether the existing bus service can be extended and improved.
Traffic surveys of the park have shown that the park generates very few trips compared to normal housing. The three options have been designed to disperse new traffic to the three separate existing entrances.
